MADD Tie One On for Safety

November 1 through January 1

Tie One On for Safety® is MADD’s longest running designated driver public awareness campaign. It works to save lives during one of the most dangerous times of year on our nation’s roadways-the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

From November 1st through January 1, display a MADD ribbon on your vehicle to remind everyone to always designate a sober (non-drinking) driver.

Veteran’s Day: On this day, we honor American Veterans of all wars.  Road Radio USA salutes the men and women, past, present, and future who choose to serve as US service members.

The Great American Smokeout: Since 1977, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has sponsored the Great American Smokeout to foster community-based activities that encourage cigarette and smokeless-tobacco users to stop using tobacco products for at least 24 hours.

Thanksgiving day sees more deadly DUI-related crashes than the day before or after; 31% of all car accidents on Thanksgiving are related to DUIs.

In fact, the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday) is the deadliest day to drive, averaging 114 car crash deaths per year.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day: This day honors all those who lost their lives when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. More than 3,500 Americans lost their lives or were wounded on that solemn day.
